Biography

Canadian tenor and educator Graeme Linton works with singers who want clear, reliable technique that supports both expression and ease. His teaching is informed by his Bachelor of Music and Graduate Diploma in Voice and Opera from McGill University, and his Master’s degree in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Staged Voice from the University of Victoria. Across his training, the focus was not only on how the voice sounds, but on how it functions and how clearly it communicates. In lessons and coaching, Graeme helps singers develop practical tools they can rely on in rehearsal, performance, and everyday practice.

Some of Graeme’s most formative musical experiences lie outside traditional classical and operatic settings. As a teenager, he performed at the Edge of the World Music Festival alongside his father’s folk band, gaining early experience singing in collaborative, informal environments. He also spent time singing in hospice care centres, where clarity, presence, and intention mattered more than presentation. He has since collaborated with folk musicians on arranging vocal music for ensemble singing, experiences that continue to shape a grounded, practical approach to working with the voice.

Teaching is a central part of Graeme’s professional practice. He offers vocal lessons and one-on-one coaching to singers ranging from absolute beginners to performers active in folk, rock, and classical traditions. In addition to private teaching, he leads choral clinics, workshops, and masterclasses that focus on healthy vocal production, ensemble singing, and expressive clarity in real-world musical settings. His goal in teaching is to help singers feel confident in their voices, understand how their instrument works, and develop skills they can carry with them across styles and stages.
